Privacy Policy - Poop Diary
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 2026
Thank you for choosing Poop Diary ("we", "us", or "our"). We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect & How We Store It
Poop Diary is designed with a "Privacy First, Local First" approach. Most of your personal data never leaves your device.
- Health Data & Profiles: The health data you enter (including Bristol scale types, colors, amounts, feelings, and profiles for adults, babies, or pets) is stored strictly locally on your device using Apple's local database framework. We do not upload this data to our servers.
- Photos & Camera: When you use the Camera to record or use AI for automatic recognition, the photos and the AI analysis (CoreML) are processed entirely on your device. Photos are only saved to your local App Sandbox or device album if you explicitly choose to do so. We never upload your photos to any external servers.
- Face ID / Biometrics: If you enable App Lock, we use Apple's local authentication framework. We do not access, collect, or store your actual fingerprint or facial data.
- Analytics & Diagnostic Data: To monitor app stability and improve performance, we integrate Google Firebase SDK. This service may automatically collect anonymous diagnostic data, such as crash reports and basic app usage statistics.
- Device & Tracking Data (with your consent): To deliver relevant advertisements and measure campaign performance, we integrate the Meta (Facebook) SDK. Only if you grant permission via the Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, we may collect and share anonymous device identifiers (Device ID) and product interaction data with Meta.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core functionalities of the app, including generating health reports, timelines, and analysis.
- To perform local AI recognition for stool and toilet detection.
- To secure your data using local App Lock features.
- To identify and fix app crashes and technical issues using Firebase.
- (If consented) To analyze app usage trends and optimize our advertising campaigns through Meta's services.
3. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to ensure the app runs smoothly and to support our marketing efforts:
You can manage your tracking preferences at any time in your iOS Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Since your health data and photos are stored locally, you have full control over them. You can delete specific records, profiles, or photos directly within the app. Uninstalling the app from your device will permanently delete all associated local data.
5. Children's Privacy
While our app allows users to create "Baby" profiles to track infant health, the app itself is intended for use by adults (parents/guardians). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13.
