Privacy Policy - AI Scanner: Photo & PDF Fix
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 4, 2026
Welcome to AI Scanner: Photo & PDF Fix (the "App"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
To provide and improve our services, we may collect the following types of information:
- User Content (Photos and Documents): When you use features like document scanning, old photo restoration, or plant diagnosis, we collect the images you explicitly upload or capture. Note: These images are NOT linked to your personal identity.
- Face Data: For the photo restoration and enhancement features, the App processes standard 2D photographs that may contain human faces. We do NOT collect biometric face data (such as TrueDepth API data) for facial recognition or identification. Face data in the context of our App refers solely to the visual representation of faces within the photos you explicitly upload.
- Device Identifiers: We collect device identifiers (such as IDFA) to understand how you interact with our App and for marketing attribution.
- Usage & Diagnostics Data: We collect crash logs, performance data, and app activity to ensure the App runs smoothly.
- Purchase History: We keep a record of your in-app purchases and subscriptions to provide you with the correct premium features.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- AI Processing: Your images are securely transmitted to our third-party AI partners (such as Google Gemini and Replicate) strictly for fulfilling your requested tasks (e.g., repairing a photo or solving a math problem).
- Face Data Usage & Retention: The visual face data in your uploaded photos is used exclusively to apply AI-driven image enhancement (e.g., unblurring and restoring vintage photos). This data is securely transmitted to our cloud AI provider (Replicate) via API. It is processed ephemerally (only in memory during the operation), is never permanently stored on our servers or third-party servers, and is immediately destroyed after the enhanced image is returned to your device. It is not shared with any other third parties or used to train AI models.
- Analytics and Stability: We use Firebase (by Google) to monitor app crashes, track feature usage, and improve overall performance.
- Advertising and Attribution: We use the Facebook SDK (by Meta) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. If you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, we may use your device identifier to attribute app installs to our ads.
3. Third-Party Services
Our App utilizes third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Below are the links to the privacy policies of the third-party service providers used in the App:
Important Note on AI Image Processing & Data Protection: The photos you upload for AI processing are transmitted temporarily. They are not used by us or our third-party AI providers to train public machine learning models, nor are they sold to third parties. Furthermore, we confirm that any third-party AI service provider we share your data with (including Google and Replicate) provides the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this Privacy Policy.
4. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
We respect your privacy choices. We will only track your device across apps and websites owned by other companies (via the Facebook SDK) if you explicitly tap "Allow" on the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this preference at any time in your iOS device settings.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide our services. Images processed by our cloud AI services are typically processed ephemerally and are not permanently stored on our servers. Your local data (like scanning history and plant diaries) is stored securely on your device or synced via your personal iCloud account.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. Since most of your data (like your photos) is stored locally on your device or processed anonymously, you can delete this data simply by deleting the App.
